We are a normal GP practice, looking after public and private patients.

We are 2 doctors, myself and Dr Sinead Beirne, and a nurse (my Mrs Caitriona O’Sullivan, who is practice nurse, midwife, breastfeeding support etc). We share 3 reception staff with the other GP practice.

We provide the full range of GP services, from cradle to grave, including maternity care, cervical screening, childhood and travel vaccination, contraception, health screening, ECG, lung function testing, chronic illness care, blood tests, repeat prescriptions and so on, but we also have some specialized services that are not commonly found in most practices:

  • Minor surgery procedures, from ingrown toenails and cysts to moles and skin cancers, wart freezing etc. We take referrals from all over Dublin and carry out approx. 700 procedures annually
  • We provide ultrasound scanning, including general abdominal scanning, assessment of prostate, aorta, gallstones, uterus, and pregnancy scanning.
  • As a result, we have an extensive maternity practice, participate in shared antenatal care with the hospital, offer midwife care and provide comprehensive breastfeeding support for new parents.
  • We combine ultrasound and surgical skills to find and remove contraceptive implants that get lost in people’s arms
  • We have substantial expertise in diabetes care.

Tree Walk, Carney – Woodland Series

Tree Walk, Carney is an oil painting on board. This was of a beautiful Sligo walk through lush woodland in summertime. I often take my son there as country walks are a great way to get fresh air and enjoy the surroundings. This was last year and unfortunately has been cut down. I’ve done a few other paintings of this changing landscape. It will come back again we hope.

The green foliage and the dappled sunlight through the tees was such a beautiful sight to see. It was one of those hidden gems in Sligo, I had to paint it! This was one from the heart. I felt I needed to document it as we were not going to see it again for another twenty years. Collite; the forestry service plant Sitka Spruce mostly in non-arable land in Irelands north western counties. These grow for a short period of time and are harvested for their timber and so the cycle begins again.

These belts of greenery are especially beautiful when native trees are planted in amongst. I absolutely love the way the light here accentuates the richness of colours and textures, the scenery here in Sligo is compelling to paint. This is but one genre of Sligo’s eclectic landscape. I guess that’s the reason why I go from seascapes to landscape. It can’t be overlooked 🙂
