‘Splash’ is a semi abstract miniature painting of a wave section. This one invigorates the soul and really pops out at you! I really like the blue and white impact of Splash. Particularly the application of the palette knife which can be unpredictable. I feel it achieves a natural motion through the pull of the paint and as a result, it gives life to the artwork. Because the piece is varnished, it exudes a richness like oils. Splash is purely a painting of spontaneous release. A perfect painting to enhance calming surrounds. In painting this little piece, Hokusai comes to mind with one of his most famous iconic print ‘The Great Wave of Kanagawa’.
This little acrylic painting is a subject of microcosm based on the Sligo coastline of the Wild Atlantic Way, because it represents the freedom of the ocean. A force that cannot be tamed.
Product Info
Splash was created with Acrylic on primed canvas. This little painting is signed and titled underneath and inserted into a 4 x 4 inch mount. I fit the piece in to a 9 x 9 inch off white wooden box-frame with a hanging hook on the back. The inside of the frame includes a 30mm foam-board spacer. This creates a recess between the glass and the backing board of the frame. As a result, this gives more perspective to the painting. And because we are sustainably conscious at the Gallery, we used a white core mount and the backing board which are both acid-free. This also means that it shouldn’t fade over time.
