‘Sea Swell’ is from a view just down the road from my parents house in North County Sligo, here is where the Atlantic tests her might towards the chiseled cliffs of Maugherow.
Every day is different when it come to the weather, the tides and the time of day. Many a day was spent scouting around the cliffs observing. Much to say ‘drinking in the awesomeness’ of the coastline and sea. It was to be feared as to be revered in so many aspects, the atmosphere of my surrounds changed with every hour. And from my early days of being an artist this wild place has kept my gaze constant. What a pleasure to paint a wild and uncontrollable force such as the sea.
This little acrylic painting is of one of those days when the rolls of a swell trundled in with blue skies of a late summer.
Product Info
Sea Swell was created from Acrylic on primed canvas. My painting is signed and titled underneath and I’ve inserted it into a 4 x 4 inch mount. It’s fitted into a 9 x 9 inch off white wooden box-frame with a hanging hook on the back. The inside of the frame includes a 30mm foam-board spacer. This creates a recess between the glass and the backing board of the frame. As a result, it gives perspective to the painting. And as we are sustainably conscious here in the Gallery, we’ve picked the white core mount and the backing board which are both acid-free. This also means that it shouldn’t fade over time.
