About Acrylic Paints
Acrylics are a wonderful paint to try out. Their makeup is composed of a vehicle called polymer, a plastic component which binds the pigment together. They’re versatile, quick drying and are water-based. Once dried, they cannot be reactivated, i.e., watercolour/gouache. But layering the paint is a fantastic way to build up your painting. They don’t fade over time, are robust and dry to a hard finish. Lots of mediums can be used with them to manipulate their viscosity, transparency, opacity, texture and surface quality. These paints are great when first trying out painting for the first time.
